January 24, 2025 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that Rampart Area Detectives LAPD logoare asking for the public’s assistance with any information regarding a shooting that injured five victims.

On January 22, 2025, around 1:00 a.m., Rampart Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon shooting in the 600 block of South Alvarado Street. A male suspect walked up to a group of individuals and opened fire with a handgun. Five victims were struck by gunfire as a result. The suspect then ran southbound on Alvarado Street to an unknown location. This suspect is now in custody. A total of five victims were struck by gunfire. The suspect was also struck by gunfire.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victims to local hospitals. Three victims are in stable condition and two victims remain in critical but stable condition. The suspect is in critical but stable condition. Four of the victims are adult males and one victim is a female adult.

Detectives determined there were an additional two shooters at the location and detectives are requesting the public’s assistance in locating them. It is unknown at this time if they were shooting at each other or the gunfire was directed only towards the victims.

The identification of the suspect is being withheld pending further investigation.

“Today the Mayor and I are surging resources to this area to enforce a Zero Tolerance policy on crime – if you break the law you will be arrested,” said Chief McDonnell, “Please know that my top priority is keeping you safe, and I will continue to hold anyone who threatens your sense of security accountable.”
