Fatal Traffic Collision
January 26, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11:07 a.m., deputies assigned to the Moreno Valley Sheriff's Station were dispatched to a major injury traffic collision at the intersection of Ironwood Avenue and Heacock Street. Deputies arrived and located a traffic collision involving an Infiniti and a Mercedes. A passenger in the Mercedes sustained significant injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes was transported to a local hospital with significant injuries. The driver and a passenger in the Infiniti were also transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The impact from the collision caused the Mercedes to be pushed into two pedestrians standing on the sidewalk nearby. One of the pedestrians was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. A second pedestrian did not sustain any injuries.
The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and assumed the investigation. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
The passenger was identified as 39-year-old Ancelmo Sanchez and the pedestrian as 31-year-old Luis Lopez, both residents of Moreno Valley. A temporary road closure of Ironwood Avenue between Heacock Street and Kristin Court was required to process the scene and collect evidence.
