Fatal Traffic Collision in Encinitas
March 11, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at approximately 6:01 p.m. deputies with the North Coastal Sheriff's Station responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred in the 100 block of Jupiter Street, in the City of Encinitas.
Preliminary information indicates that a white sedan, driven by an 84-year-old male, struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The 60-year-old male pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver remained on scene and was uninjured following the collision.
The cause of the crash is currently still under investigation by North Coastal Station Traffic Investigators and the Sheriff's Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team.
It is unknown if the use of alcohol or drugs is a factor in this ongoing investigation.
