March 12, 2025 – Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on January 1, 2025, Assembly Bill 413 which introduces California Vehicle Code 22500(n) went into effect. Specifically, vehicles cannot stop, park, or stand:
Within 20 feet of the vehicle approach side of any marked or unmarked crosswalk, or
Within 15 feet of any crosswalk where a curb extension is present.
The purpose of this new law is to increase visibility, improve pedestrian safety and reduce traffic collisions.
LASD Parking Enforcement Detail will issue a warning for vehicles in violation of this new law. Starting May 1, 2025, a $63 citation (subject to change) will be issued to vehicles parked within 20 feet of any marked or unmarked crosswalk.
