Anastasio Held to Answer on Felony Child Sexual Abuse Charges 

March 20, 2025 – Modoc County District Attorney's Office officials report that on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, during a preliminary hearing, Abel Anastasio of Alturas, was held to answer on charges of Sexual Penetration by a Foreign Object on a victim under age 14, Lewd Acts Upon a Child, Forcible Lewd Acts Upon a Child and Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, all Felony charges. 

All four charges combined could carry a maximum sentence of 46 years in State Prison and additionally require lifetime registration as a Sex Offender if convicted. 

Mr. Anastasio remains out of custody under the supervision of the Modoc County Probation Department pending further proceedings.
