Suspicious Vehicle Leads to Narcotic Arrest
March 25, 2025 – Sutter County Sheriff’s Office officials report that Sunday night, March 23, 2025, Sutter County Deputies noticed a suspicious vehicle in front of a driveway in the 7200 block of Pleasant Grove Road. The front seat passenger exited the vehicle and quickly walked to the residence. Deputies contacted the driver and discovered he was unlicensed. Deputies also noticed the backseat passenger, 48-year-old Brian Fleenor of Rio Linda, was trying to conceal what appeared to be a meth pipe.
While continuing to investigate, the front seat passenger that had exited the vehicle earlier, 41-year-old David Morris of Rio Linda, returned to the vehicle holding his hat with property inside of it. A records check revealed Morris had an out-of-county arrest warrant. The back seat passenger admitted to having a bag of methamphetamine in the back seat of the vehicle.
Deputies conducted a search of the area where Morris was seen walking away from and located an unloaded Ruger semi-automatic firearm and a bag of methamphetamine (1.21 net grams). The firearm showed no matches in the system. A records check also revealed Morris was a convicted felon with two prior narcotic convictions.
A vehicle search continued, and the deputies located the methamphetamine Fleenor had mentioned, weighing 22.82 net grams, along with a meth pipe. Under the driver's seat, deputies found another meth pipe and an additional 3.17 net grams of methamphetamine. In total, Sutter County deputies seized approximately 27.20 net grams of methamphetamine.
Morris was arrested and booked for his out-of-county warrant, possession of a controlled substance, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Fleenor was arrested and booked for possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance with two or more priors (prop 36). The driver was issued a citation, and the vehicle was released to a licensed driver.
