Homicide Investigation 

March 28, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Wednesday, March 25, 2025, at 1:02 a.m., deputies from the Thermal Station were dispatched to the 91800 block of Avenue 66 in the unincorporated community of Riverside County, known as Mecca, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon.  Upon arrival, deputies located a 17-year-old female suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  Despite lifesaving measures, the female was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. Due to her age, the decedent’s name will not be released.  No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation is still ongoing.  No further information will be released at this time.
