Residential Burglary Suspect Arrested
April 3, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 12:28 a.m., deputies from the
Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the area of Oxford Lane and Harvey Mudd Drive in Palm Desert regarding a suspicious person in the area attempting to open the front door of a private residence.
Prior to deputies’ arrival, the suspect, later identified as James Jones, a 21-year-old transient of Desert Hot Springs, fled the area on foot. When additional deputies arrived, Jones was detained without incident. A search of the area revealed an unreported residential burglary on Harvey Mudd Lane. During the investigation, deputies identified Jones as the burglary suspect. Jones was arrested and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for burglary.
