Child Annoying
April 5, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that on March 29, 2025, an adult male was
arrested for Child Annoying after an extensive investigation dating back to November of 2024.
In November 2024, a female minor reported being harassed by an adult male while walking home in the unincorporated area of Ojai known as Meiners Oaks. The minor reported the encounters to her mother, who in turn reported the incidents to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office / Ojai Police Station. An extensive search to identify the suspect was unsuccessful.
In March of 2025, the female minor again reported being harassed by the same suspect while walking home from school.
The investigation continued by Ojai Patrol Deputies and Ojai Detectives. With the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office Crime Analysis Unit, the suspect was identified as Gerardo Juarez Reyes. The victim was able to positively identify Reyes as the suspect who had been harassing her when she was walking home from school.
Reyes was arrested and booked for two counts of 647.6(a)(1) / Child Annoying.
The Sheriff’s Office / Ojai Police Station would like to remind the public to stay alert when walking or biking in the unincorporated areas and to report any suspicious activity to Sheriff’s Dispatch. Sheriff Dispatch can be contacted at 805-654-9511 or if it is an emergency call 911. If it is unsafe to make a phone call, Sheriff’s Dispatch can be contacted by using "Text to 911".
