Suspects Arrested for Illegal Firearm Sales 

April 6, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that in January 2025, the Riverside County riverside county sheriff logoRegional Gang Task Force (GTF) – Region 6 started an investigation into the illegal sale of firearms to criminal street gang members. On Friday, April 4, 2025, at 1:35 p.m., GTF and the San Jacinto Special Enforcement Team served a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Hummingbird Drive in San Jacinto as part of this investigation. During the search, deputies seized 18 illegally possessed firearms, including four assault rifles and a 5.7mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with ammunition designed to pierce body armor. Deputies also seized approximately 20 high-capacity magazines and three 50-round drum magazines.

Task Force Officers arrested Vaughn Gray Jr., a 48-year-old resident of San Jacinto, for being a convicted felon in possession of firearms, convicted felon in possession of ammunition, and possession of an assault rifle. Vaughn Gray III, a 28-year-old resident of Blythe, was arrested for being a convicted felon in possession of firearms, convicted felon in possession of ammunition, possession of an assault rifle, knowingly selling firearms to prohibited persons, and being a gang member involved in firearm sales. They were both booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
