Shooting Investigation Leads to Homicide Arrest 

April 9, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11:01 p.m., deputies riverside county sheriff logofrom the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to the 100 block of North Poe Street after receiving a report of a shooting. Deputies arrived at a residence and located a male, later identified as Marcus Bryant, a 37-year-old resident of Hemet. Bryant was on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite the medical aid rendered by first responders, Bryant succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. During the initial investigation, multiple subjects were detained at the residence and later interviewed at the Lake Elsinore Station. The investigation resulted in the arrest of George Eddie Steven Thompson, a 39-year-old resident of Lake Elsinore. Thompson was booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center for murder and a felony weapon enhancement.
