Death Investigation in Unincorporated El Cajon 

April 9, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on April 8, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., deputies from the Rancho San Diego Station, along with the San Miguel Fire Department, responded to a medical emergency at a residence in the 1500 block of Penasco Drive, in unincorporated El Cajon.

On arrival, medical personnel discovered a one-year-old female unresponsive on the living room floor. Paramedics immediately began CPR and transported the child to a local hospital, where tragically, the baby was pronounced deceased.

The Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded, assumed responsibility for the investigation, and are working to determine the circumstances of the death.
