April 9, 2025 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Sunday, March 30, 2025, San Bernardino County Sheriff logodeputies at the West Valley Detention Center contacted Larry Shidie in his cell.  Shidie appeared to be suffering from a medical emergency, and medical staff were summoned to evaluate him.  An ambulance was requested and Shidie was transported to San Antonio Regional Hospital where he was admitted for continued medical care.  Shidie’s health declined over the following days, and he was pronounced deceased on Friday, April 4, 2025.  

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division responded and assumed the investigation.  

Shidie was arrested on March 18, 2025, by the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station, for a parole violation and remained in custody until his death.
