Gang Members Arrested for Graffiti Vandalism
April 13, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that (S) Brahin Valenica and a sixteen-
year-old juvenile from the City Thousand Oaks were arrested after detectives connected them to gang graffiti vandalism that occurred throughout the City of Thousand Oaks.
On April 4th and 7th of 2025, multiple incidents of gang graffiti vandalism occurred in the 1600 block of W. Hillcrest Drive in the City of Thousand Oaks. The vandalism, which occurred on walls of private apartment buildings resulted in over $2,000 in property damage.
Detectives with the East County Special Enforcement Unit were able to identify Brahin Valenica and a sixteen-year-old male juvenile as the suspects, who were both on probation. During a probation search of the suspects’ homes, additional evidence linking them to the graffiti vandalism was located. Valenica was booked at the Ventura County Main Jail on charges of 272(a) PC, 594(b)(1) PC, and 186.22 PC, Contributing to the delinquency of a minor and Graffiti Vandalism for the Benefit of a Street Gang. Valenica remains in custody with a bail amount of $210,000. The male juvenile was cited for charges of 594(b)(1) PC and 186.22 PC, Graffiti Vandalism for the Benefit of a Street Gang, with court proceedings pending.
The Thousand Oaks Police Department encourages citizens to immediately report suspicious people and vehicles by promptly calling 911 or our non-emergency line (805) 654-9511. If you see something, say something. The reporting party may remain anonymous. We also take a zero-tolerance stance against gang activity and encourage anyone who witnesses or is aware of gang activity to immediately notify us.
Graffiti Removal
The City of Thousand Oaks removes all graffiti in public areas. Residents are encouraged to report graffiti to our graffiti removal hotline by calling (805) 449-2488, or send an email to: PublicWorksMSC@toaks.org. Please provide the following information: Address or street name and cross street of the incident. A detailed description will help crews locate the graffiti quickly. Structure type or object the graffiti is on. The City will also remove graffiti from private property that is visible from the City's public areas, free of charge upon request.
