Homicide in Vista 

April 25, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff's Office officials report that on April 23, 2025, at about 10:00 a.m., deputies from the Vista Patrol Station responded to the 700 block of N. Citrus Ave., in the city of Vista, to conduct a welfare check. Upon arrival, deputies made entry into the residence and found a deceased adult female with obvious signs of trauma. Deputies conducted a safety sweep of the home and located a barricaded adult male inside a bedroom.  Sheriff's SWAT and Crisis Negotiators were requested and arrived on scene to deescalate the situation. The man was taken safely into custody and arrested for murder.   The victim's identity is not being released at this time, pending confirmation and notification of family members.

Sheriff's Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation. At this stage of the investigation, the motivation and circumstances of the crime are still under investigation. Based on information gathered so far, this appears to be an isolated incident. There are no outstanding suspects and no apparent danger to the community.
