Deputies Respond to a Possible Murder and Encounter a Man Who Fires a Gun at Them, Leading to Lethal Force Encounter
May 8, 2025 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Monday, May 5, 2025, deputies were
dispatched to the area of Joshua Lane and Joshua Drive, in Yucca Valley, after receiving a call from the suspect, Graham Michael Lee Belle, who reportedly shot and killed a person. When deputies arrived, they found Belle in the desert, armed with a handgun. Belle ignored commands from deputies to drop the weapon and fired the handgun. A lethal force encounter occurred, and Belle was struck by gunfire. Deputies began life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and took over medical care. Belle was transported to the hospital where he remains.
Deputies searched the area but did not locate a murder victim.
Detectives from the Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division responded and assumed the investigation.
