Late-Night DUI Arrest Leads to Firearm Discovery
May 13, 2025 – San Benito County Sheriff's Office officials report that on May 10, 2025, just before midnight, Deputy Godinez observed a vehicle swerving on the roadway. When the Deputy spoke with the driver during a traffic stop, there were clear signs of being under the influence of alcohol.
Deputy Godinez completed a DUI investigation, which led to the driver’s arrest. During a vehicle inventory search (because the car was going to be towed for the DUI), deputies found a gun under the driver’s seat.
The driver was ultimately arrested for DUI and possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle. Who knows what he was going to do with the gun, but thankfully both dangerous situations were avoided this time.
We appreciate Deputy Godinez’s keen eye for this dangerous driver and the entire B-shift night team for keeping our roads and community safe!
Special thanks to @leftcoastsunrise for joining the ride-along and capturing the investigation in action.
