May 18, 2025 – Yuba City Police Department officials report that on Wednesday, May 13, 2025, our Yuba City dispatch center received an alert from the FLOCK camera system of a stolen vehicle in the area of Butte House Road and Gray Avenue. Yuba City Police officers located the stolen vehicle in the 2100 block of Tierra Buena Road. Officers flew the department’s drone over to the vehicle and were able to confirm the license plate of the vehicle, which had been reported stolen to the Chico Police Department.
As officers approached the vehicle, the suspect fled on foot but was taken into custody near Hooper Road and Becky Lane. The suspect was identified as 40-year-old Sarah Brown out of Oroville. Ms. Brown was later booked into the Sutter County Jail, and the vehicle was returned to the owner.
The FLOCK camera system has been in place for approximately one year, and there are 10 cameras strategically placed throughout the city. The FLOCK cameras capture images of license plates which are then compared to a database of stolen and wanted vehicles. The cameras were purchased from state funds which were released from AB109 “California Public Safety Realignment Act.”
