June 20, 2025 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Thursday, June 19, 2025, detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Specialized Investigations Division - Crimes Against Children Detail and the Victor Valley Station investigated allegations of unlawful sexual contact with a minor by a substitute school security guard at Columbia Middle School.
Detectives identified Deshawn Mitchell as the suspect. At the conclusion of the investigation, Mitchell was arrested and booked into High Desert Detention Center for violation of PC 288(a) – Lewd and Lascivious Acts w/Child Under 14, in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Investigators and the Adelanto Elementary School District worked cooperatively to ensure a thorough investigation into this matter was completed.
