Update: Public Indecency Suspect Caught!
June 23, 2025 - Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office officials report that thanks to your tips and fast action, the man involved in a disturbing incident on a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority bus has been identified and arrested.
On June 11, the suspect engaged in lewd acts in front of passengers, exposing himself inches from a female rider, then moving to the front and assaulting the driver before getting off the bus near S. King Road & Tully Road in San Jose.
Thanks to several community tips, deputies arrested Carlos Cruz Varela, 28, of San Jose. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for indecent exposure, battery, and an outstanding burglary warrant.
