July 1, 2025 – San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office officials issue an update regarding arrests made in a stabbing on San Luis Obispo Sheriff logoSunday night in Cambria.

On June 29, 2025, at approximately 9:06 P.M., the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 2200 block of Main Street in Cambria. The initial call indicated that two juvenile males, ages 14 and 16, had been stabbed.

Deputies arrived on the scene, assisted with medical aid, and quickly obtained a description of the vehicle the suspects had fled in. A short time later, deputies with assistance from the California Highway Patrol located and stopped the suspect vehicle on Highway 46 at Hidden Valley Road in Templeton. Two adult males were detained without incident.

The victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. One juvenile victim was discharged shortly after. The second was transferred to a specialized care facility for continued observation. Both are expected to recover.

The investigation determined that a knife was used in the assault. At this time, it does not appear the suspects and victims knew each other prior to the incident.

The suspects were identified as 32-year-old Miguel Angel Cervantes, of Delano, California, who was arrested for PC 245(a)(1), assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, and 33-year-old Jose Munoz, of Delano, California, who was arrested for PC 32, accessory.

This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The case is currently being investigated by the Sheriff's Office Detective Division. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Detective Division at (805) 781-4500.
