One found deceased in a Vista home, another in the hospital
July 2, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff's Office officials report that on June 29, 2025, at approximately 11:04 a.m., Sheriff's deputies from the Vista Station responded to a radio call of an assault with a deadly weapon at the1200 block of Columbus Way, in the city of Vista. Upon arrival, deputies contacted a person checking on the residents welfare, who called the Sheriff's Office to report the incident. Deputies located an 81-year-old female who had signs of trauma and was deceased. An 82-year-old male was also located in the home, who also had signs of trauma. Medical aid was provided to the male, and he was transported to a local hospital by paramedics. Due to the suspicious nature of the incident, the Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
Based on the information gathered so far, this appears to be an isolated incident. There is no apparent danger to the community. The investigation is ongoing.
