Beauty Bandits Busted 

July 13, 2025 – Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office officials report that what started as a $5,000 Ulta Beauty heist in City of Cupertino turned into a full-blown Organized Retail Crime investigation led by our Retail Theft Task Force, a partnership between the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office and the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.

Last month, with help from California Highway Patrol, detectives tracked the trail to the City of Oakland, uncovering a suspected fencing operation. A search of a home on West Court and a storage unit on San Leandro Street revealed stolen goods from Ulta, Target, CVS, Walgreens, TJ Maxx, and Sally Beauty — worth nearly $10,000 and counting!

Two suspects: Ivan Espinoza, 33, and Claudia Barragan, 41, of Oakland were arrested and face charges including organized retail theft, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy.

The three original “beauty bandits” remain unidentified but are believed to be active boosters in the Bay Area.

They took the makeup but couldn’t cover their tracks.
