July 20, 2025 – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that at around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, Rampart Patrol officers responded to a radio call of an assault with a deadly weapon in the area of Vermont Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard. Preliminary information indicates a vehicle drove into a crowd for reasons still under investigation. When officers arrived, they found the driver being assaulted by bystanders and determined he had sustained a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital and his condition is unknown at this time.

The Los Angeles Fire Department reported 30 victims (7 in critical condition, 6 in serious condition, 10 in fair condition. 7 patients refused transport).

The suspect who shot the driver fled the scene on foot and was last seen heading westbound from Vermont Avenue and is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, 180 pounds, bald, wearing a blue jersey, and possibly armed with a silver revolver.
