SWAT Standoff in Fallbrook 

July 22, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that a woman is in custody after a nearly five-hour-long standoff in Fallbrook.

On Monday, July 21, just before 1:00 a.m., deputies from the Fallbrook Sheriff's Substation responded to a call at a home in the 100 block of Avo Drive for a reported victim with a gunshot wound to the head.

Deputies learned that Devin Jones (44) and her boyfriend were involved in a violent argument inside their trailer. During the altercation, Jones held a knife and made threats to harm her boyfriend, though no stabbing occurred. He managed to take the knife away from Jones and took the opportunity to leave the trailer, removing himself from the situation. While the boyfriend was outside, Jones remained inside, retrieved a rifle and fired through the trailer window, striking him in the head.

The victim was taken to a hospital with a minor skull laceration. The emergency room doctor noted the injury could have been fatal if the bullet had deviated slightly. The victim was later released from the hospital.

Following the shooting, Jones barricaded herself inside the trailer, prompting a response from deputies, as well as the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail (SED/SWAT). Around 5:30 a.m., Jones was eventually taken into custody without further incident.

Jones is facing numerous charges, including attempted murder. She was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
