August 7, 2025 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on February 29, 2025, investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Crimes Against Children Detail (CAC), and the Hesperia Sheriff's Station investigated child abuse of a foster child, in Hesperia. The child was placed in foster care by Los Angeles County Children and Family Services.
During the investigation, the foster mother, Mayra Alvarez De Giron, was identified as the suspect. The completed investigation was submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review. On Friday, August 1, 2025, the District Attorney's Office filed felony child abuse charges against Alvarez De Giron, and an arrest warrant was issued.
On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Alvarez De Giron was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center without bail.
Detectives believe there may be additional victims from previous foster care placements and are releasing Alvarez De Giron’s photograph.
