Lake Forest Incident Update 

August 8, 2025 – Orange County Sheriff's Department officials report that on Thursday, August 7, 2025, Orange County Sheriff personnel were notified a possible domestic incident that occurred on Wednesday in the city of Lake Forest.

Shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, deputies located the suspect at a retail store in the area of Trabuco and El Toro roads. When deputies attempted to take the suspect into custody, a deputy-involved shooting occurred.

A handgun was recovered at the scene, and the suspect was taken to the hospital, where he is in surgery.

A K-9 team responded to the area and, in an incident unrelated to the arrest or deputy-involved shooting, a deputy was bit by the K-9. The injured deputy is being treated at the hospital.

Per protocol, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the deputy-involved shooting. We ask for the public’s patience as investigators continue to interview witnesses and process the scene.
