Robbery in Imperial Beach
August 13, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that a man is in custody on suspicion of robbery in Imperial Beach.
On Tuesday, August 12, just before 2:00 p.m., a man later identified as Roberto Galvan (40) entered the Chase Bank located in the 1100 block of Palm Avenue.
Once inside, Galvan robbed a customer as she was making a cash deposit with a bank teller. Galvan approached the victim from behind, grabbed her money and ran out of the bank. He got into a car and drove away as the victim tried to stop him. The woman sustained minor injuries from holding onto the car as Galvan fled the area.
As deputies from the Imperial Beach Sheriff's Substation searched for Galvan's car in the area, they received information that Galvan was spotted in the City of El Cajon. The El Cajon Police Department was notified that Galvan was driving in their jurisdiction. Based on the information received, El Cajon Police located Galvan and took him into custody without incident.
A short time later, Galvan was positively identified by the victim and placed under arrest by Sheriff's Deputies for the robbery.
