Deputies in San Bernardino Respond to a Shooting and Find Two Victims with Gunshot Wounds; One Dies at Hospital 

August 18, 2025 – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 7:30 p.m., deputies from the Sheriff’s Central Station were dispatched to a shooting in the wash, north of Third Street and west of Palm Lane, in San Bernardino. When they arrived, they found two adult males with gunshot wounds.  Both victims were transported to the hospital where one of the victims, Richard Anthony Smith, was pronounced deceased.  

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded and assumed the investigation.  Investigators learned Smith and the second victim were involved in an altercation with the suspects when they were shot. The investigation is ongoing.
