Operation Killswitch

August 27, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Tuesday, we announced the largest organized retail theft case in Home Depot history.

Over the past several months, our Organized Retail Theft Task Force uncovered an elaborate theft ring that stole over $10 million in merchandise from Home Depot stores across Southern California.

  • 14 people arrested
  • 9 charged so far
  • $3.7 million in stolen property recovered (and counting)

This investigation exposed how thieves targeted expensive electrical components, reselling them through storefronts, online sales, and fencing operations.

“If you’re running booster crews, selling stolen goods, or profiting from organized theft we will find you and hold you accountable,” said Ventura County Sheriff Jim Fryhoff.
