September 6, 2025 – Alturas, CA – Modoc County Sheriff's Office officials report that the Modoc County District Attorney's Office confirms that Darrell Wood has been held to answer on 22 counts of child molestation, including seven counts that could result in consecutive life sentences.

District Attorney Nina Salarno commended the efforts of Assistant District Attorney Richard Cotta , Modoc County Sheriff's Deputy Chris Harrison, and Alturas Police Officer Frankie Widby, whose dedication and hard work were instrumental in moving this case forward.

District Attorney Salarno stated: "This case demonstrates the Modoc County District Attorney's Office's and local law enforcement partners are committed to pursuing cases that affect the safety of children in the community. Our office will always stand firm in defense of our children."

The matter is scheduled for Arraignment on Information on October 20, 2025, in Modoc County Superior Court.
