Homicide 

September 7, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that the Riverside Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit continues to investigate this incident in an attempt to identify the suspect(s) involved. The deceased victim was identified as 17-year-old Alberto Castillo Jr., a resident of Coachella. The Central Homicide Unit is requesting the public's assistance and encourages anyone with information to contact Master Investigator Castaneda at 951-675-8262.

Original Information: On Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 3:45 a.m., deputies from the Thermal Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to a residence in the 49000 block of Corte Molino, in Coachella, regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, deputies discovered three adolescent males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Deputies rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived, and despite lifesaving measures, one of the victims succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The other two victims were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment in critical condition.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation is active and ongoing. No further information will be released at this time.
