Law Enforcement-Related Injury in Rampart Division 

**The following information is based on a preliminary and ongoing investigation, which continues to evolve as investigators interview witnesses, review physical and electronic records, and analyze forensic evidence. The Department’s understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional evidence is collected and analyzed**

September 8, 2025 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that the (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating a Law Enforcement Related Injury (LERI) that occurred in Rampart Division.

On September 4, 2025, at around 8:20 a.m., Rampart Area uniformed officers responded to an “ADW suspect there now” radio call at a residence in the 300 block of South La Fayette Park Place. The comments of the call indicated the suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Julian Douglas, was at the front gate of the location waving a butcher knife.

Upon arrival, officers observed Douglas standing in the apartment courtyard armed with a knife and with blood on her hands. The officers ordered Douglas to drop the knife. She then quickly entered a nearby apartment and barricaded herself inside a closet while armed. Officers continued to verbalize with Douglas to drop the knife and surrender, but she failed to comply with their orders.

Metropolitan Division, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), were requested and responded to the location. After several hours of attempting to gain compliance, CS chemical agents were deployed. Douglas emerged from her apartment, still armed with a knife, when officers deployed a TASER Shockwave and SAGE rounds toward Douglas. Douglas was struck by two SAGE rounds and was taken into custody without further incident. Douglas was transported to a local hospital, where she was later admitted for injuries she sustained during the Use of Force.

No other community members or officers were injured as a result of this incident.
