P.M. the Yuba City Police Department responded to a domestic violence call in the 1100 block of Rickey Drive in Yuba City. When officers arrived on scene they learned the suspect, 32-year-old Marco Hernandez-Mora, had already left in a vehicle. Officers requested local agencies to be on the look-out for the suspect and his vehicle. At approximately 1:30 P.M. a Sutter County Deputy was in the area of Franklin Road and Harding Avenue and saw Mr. Hernandez-Mora driving his vehicle eastbound on Franklin Road. Prior to the Sutter County Deputy attempting any type of contact with Mr. Hernandez-Mora, he began driving erratically and drove eastbound in the westbound lanes of Franklin Road. Mr. Hernandez-Mora collided with another vehicle on Franklin Road, which caused Mr. Hernandez-Mora to lose control of his vehicle, ultimately crashing into a tree. Mr. Hernandez-Mora fled the scene on foot and a short time later was taken into custody in the 1900 block of Hunji Drive by Yuba City Police Officers with the assistance of Sutter County Deputies.
The Yuba City Police Traffic Division, Fire Department, and Sutter County Sheriff’s Department responded to the collision and discovered an unresponsive adult male in the backseat of the vehicle Mr. Hernandez-Mora was driving. Despite lifesaving attempts, the adult male succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the male is not being released at this time pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
Mr. Hernandez-Mora was transported to Adventist Rideout Hospital where he is currently in custody for domestic violence and receiving medical treatment. Mr. Hernandez-Mora will later be booked into the Sutter County Jail. This investigation is currently ongoing and additional charges are forthcoming.
