Moorpark Police Department Arrests Graffiti Vandal
September 21, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that between July and September 2025, deputies 
from the Moorpark Patrol Station responded to numerous reports of gang-related graffiti vandalisms occurring throughout the city of Moorpark. In each incident, the unknown suspect defaced various city owned properties with the same distinctive moniker or nickname, resulting in thousands of dollars in damage.
Detectives from the Moorpark Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) initiated an investigation into the series of vandalisms. Through their investigative efforts, SEU detectives were able to link the unique moniker to the graffiti incidents and ultimately identified the suspect as Christian Ortiz.
The investigation connected Ortiz to a total of four felony cases and three misdemeanor cases of graffiti vandalism that occurred over the three-month period. On 09/16/25, SEU detectives, with the assistance of Moorpark Investigation detectives, located and arrested Ortiz. At the time of the arrest, Ortiz was found in possession of various tools commonly used in graffiti-related crimes.
Ortiz was booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for four counts of PC 594(b)(1) – Felony Graffiti Vandalism over $400, three counts of PC 594(b)(2)(A) – Misdemeanor Graffiti Vandalism less than $400, and one count of PC 594.2(a) – Possession of Tools to Commit Graffiti Vandalism.
The Moorpark Special Enforcement Unit is comprised of a sergeant and two detectives, whose focus is assisting patrol services with the investigation of various crimes including, but not limited to, the investigation of illegal firearms, gang related crimes, and graffiti vandalism.
