September 25, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff’s Office officials report that Three suspects were arrested for Ventura County Sheriff logofraudulently attempting to purchase a high value vehicle at a car dealership in Thousand Oaks.

On September 23, 2025, deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Station responded to a car dealership in the 3600 Block of Thousand Oaks Boulevard, reference a subject identified as Raymondo Cox who was attempting to purchase a $68,000 Chevrolet Corvette using a fraudulent identification card that represented another real person. Cox also attempted to impersonate another person by providing their social security number to obtain credit to purchase the vehicle. Cox was not physically at the dealership, and the initial communication was done online between Cox and the dealership.

Deputies worked collaboratively with the car dealership and learned Cox had made an appointment to come and purchase the vehicle with the identity of another. Numerous detectives from the East County Investigations Bureau immediately responded to the car dealership to assist with the investigation. Cox was observed arriving at the dealership with (S)Ricky Perez and (S)Vincent Venerable. Cox signed paperwork identifying himself as another person and used their credit to attempt to purchase the vehicle. Cox was immediately arrested before the final transfer of the vehicle was completed.

Throughout the investigation, it was discovered that both Perez and Venerable also had fictitious forms of identity in their possession and conspired with Cox to fraudulently obtain the vehicle from the car dealership. Both subjects were also arrested at the scene.

Cox was arrested for violations of PC 664/487(d) Attempted Grand Theft Auto, PC 530.5(a) Identity Theft, PC 182(a)(1) Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, PC 530.5(c)(1) Attempt to De-Fraud with Personal Information, PC 470(b) Forgery, and VC 664/10851(a) Attempted Stealing of a Motor Vehicle.

Perez was arrested for violations of PC 664/487(d) Attempted Grand Theft Auto, PC 182(a)(1) Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, PC 530.5(c)(1) Attempt to De-Fraud with Personal Information, and VC 664/10851(a) Attempted Stealing of a Motor Vehicle.

Venerable was arrested for violations of PC 182(a)(1) Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, PC 470(b) Forgery, PC 664/487(d) Attempted Grand Theft Auto, and VC 664/10851(a) Attempted Stealing of a Motor Vehicle.

Cox, Perez, and Venerable were all transported and booked into Ventura County Jail with bail set at $200,000.00.
