Human Remains Discovered in Courtland 

October 11, 2025 – Sacramento County Sheriff's Office officials report that at approximately 11:00 A.M. on Thursday morning, employees with the Reclamation District discovered what they believed to be skeletal remains near the 12000 block of River Road in Courtland, just east of the Sacramento River.

The employees immediately contacted the Fire Department, who then notified the Sheriff’s Office. South Patrol Deputies, Crime Scene Investigators, and Detectives responded to the area and confirmed the remains appear to be human.

At this time, the cause of death is unknown, and it is not yet clear if this individual died under suspicious or criminal circumstances. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
