Four Citations Issued for Walnut Theft

October 11, 2025 – Sutter County, CA – Sutter County Sheriff's Office officials report that on the evening of October 9, 2025, Sutter County Deputies issued four citations related to the unlawful taking of walnuts from private property within Sutter County.

With walnut harvest season underway, theft from local orchards continues to be a recurring issue in Sutter County. These incidents not only result in financial loss to growers but can also create safety hazards and property damage.

The Sutter County Sheriff's Office would like to remind community members that entering orchards or taking crops without the owner’s consent is considered theft and can result in citations, fines, or criminal charges. Property owners are encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately.

“Our agricultural community works hard all year to produce these crops,” said Sutter County Sheriff Brandon Barnes. “We want to remind everyone that unauthorized harvesting is theft. We’ll continue to patrol and enforce agricultural theft laws throughout the season.”
