Attempted Homicide Arrest 

October 11, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Saturday, September 27, 2025, about 1:00 RCSO homicide Romeroa.m., deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon near the intersection of Bob Hope Drive and Country Club Drive in the city of Rancho Mirage. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with witnesses who advised that they had located a subject with a gunshot wound and were attempting to provide medical aid when an unknown Hispanic male assaulted the victim a second time.

The victim and suspect then fled from the location. There were no other injuries reported. Deputies later located the victim a short distance away in a nearby community, where he was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Members of the Palm Desert Investigations Bureau responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

With the assistance of the Riverside County Gang Task Force Region-1 and the Palm Desert Station Robbery and Burglary Suppression Team, Palm Desert Investigators, the suspect was identified as Jesse Romero, a 27-year-old resident of Palm Springs.

On October 10, 2025, about 1:00 a.m., members of the Riverside County Gang Impact Team located Romero in the 28000 block of Landau Boulevard in Cathedral City, where he was apprehended without incident. Romero was transported and booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in the city of Indio for attempted homicide.
