Disturbance Call Leads to Firearm Arrest in Imperial County
October 12, 2025 – Imperial County, CA – Imperial County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at approximately 6:14 p.m., Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 1200 block of Red Sea Avenue, in the Salton City area.
The reporting party informed dispatch that multiple individuals were at her residence threatening to physically harm her son. She also reported that the subjects had broken windows to both her vehicle and her home.
Upon arrival, deputies observed approximately eight male subjects gathered in the front yard. As deputies attempted to make contact with the group, one individual began walking toward the front door of the residence, disregarding repeated commands to stop. Deputies initiated a foot pursuit after the individual fled.
During the pursuit, deputies observed the suspect holding a firearm. Despite continued verbal commands to stop and drop the weapon, the suspect continued to flee and was seen discarding the firearm over a fence into a nearby yard. Deputies successfully apprehended the suspect shortly thereafter.
The individual was identified as 18-year-old Octavio Morales of Thermal. Deputies recovered the discarded firearm at the scene. Morales was arrested and subsequently booked into the Imperial County Jail for the following violations:
- Penal Code 25400(a)(2) PC – Carrying a concealed firearm on person
- Penal Code 32310 PC – Possession of a large-capacity magazine
