October 13, 2025 – San Diego Police Department officials report that on Saturday night, Northern Division officers recovered a stolen Jaguar for a local resident in Mission Beach.

Shortly after receiving the call, officers used our Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology to identify the stolen vehicle’s last known location, allowing them to get into the area quickly.

During the investigation, the owner remembered she had placed an Apple AirTag inside the vehicle. That tracking device helped guide officers right to the stolen car.

Although the vehicle was unoccupied, officers used careful crime scene techniques to collect fingerprints and other evidence for follow-up investigation.

This recovery is a great example of teamwork between the community, technology, and our officers. A simple step like using a tracking device can make all the difference in getting stolen property back where it belongs.
