Narcotics and Weapons Seized

October 18, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that an Oxnard resident was arrested for possession of controlled substances for sales and possession of illegal firearms in Ventura County.

Detectives assigned to the Ventura County Combined Agency Team (VCAT) initiated an investigation targeting the drug trafficking activities of Irvin Martinez. During this investigation, Martinez was identified as a drug trafficker responsible for the distribution of illegal substances to residents of Ventura County. Based on the facts of this investigation, Detectives obtained a search warrant authorizing a search of Martinez, his residence and his associated vehicles.

On October 16, 2025, narcotics detectives detained Martinez pursuant to a search warrant in the City of Oxnard.  A search of Martinez’ vehicle yielded several hundred counterfeit M30 Fentanyl pills, cocaine packaged for distribution, and a loaded 9 mm handgun. A search warrant was executed at Martinez’s residence, located in the 1800 block of Diego Way, in the City of Oxnard. As a result of the search, detectives located additional cocaine, methamphetamine, counterfeit M30 Fentanyl pills, and indicia to support drug sales and firearms.

VCSO weapons
In total, six firearms were recovered during the service of the search warrant and there were two AR-15 pattern rifles that were in various stages of being built or assembled. Of the six complete firearms that were recovered, four of them qualify as assault weapons under California law. One of the assault weapons also qualified as a Short Barrel Rifle due to its compact size. Several of the firearms had no serial numbers on them, commonly known as “ghost guns”, which is a violation of California law. One rifle suppressor, commonly referred to as a “silencer”, was recovered during the search warrant. Firearm suppressors are also illegal in the state of California. Approximately 10 high-capacity magazines were recovered to include a 50 round drum magazine for a semi-automatic shotgun.

Martinez was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility on various narcotics and weapons charges.

On October 17, 2025, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office filed a criminal complaint on Martinez.  Martinez remains in jail in lieu of bail.  His next court date is scheduled for October 20, 2025, in Ventura County Superior Court.
