Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of Firearms, Narcotics, and Explosive Device
October 21, 2025 – San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office officials report that on October 17, 2025, at approximately 3:00 A.M., Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of Mesa View Drive in Arroyo Grande. During the stop, deputies discovered drug paraphernalia, narcotics, and a firearm inside the vehicle.
As part of the ongoing investigation, deputies proceeded to the 600 block of Ralcoa Way in rural Arroyo Grande. Based on information gathered at the scene and further investigation, deputies and detectives from the Special Operations Unit obtained a search warrant for the residence.
During the execution of the search warrant, deputies recovered multiple firearms, illegal narcotics, and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Upon discovery of the IED, the San Luis Obispo County Bomb Task Force was immediately called to the scene. The device was safely removed and properly disposed of on-site by the Bomb Task Force.
In total, the investigation resulted in the seizure of three firearms, approximately 6.3 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, and one Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
Michael Rosso was taken into custody without incident and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail under the following charges: PC 29800(a)(1) – Felon in Possession of a Firearm, PC 30305(a)(1) – Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition, PC 18710 – Possession of a Destructive Device, HS 11378 – Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale, PC 12022(c) – Armed with a Firearm During Commission of a Felony, and HS 11364(a) – Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
