October 25, 2025 – Sacramento County Sheriff's Office officials report that Sheriff’s Central POP Team has been following up on a series of thefts targeting construction sites and county projects throughout Sacramento County. These crimes affect private businesses and have a serious impact on the County’s Civil Engineering Department with ongoing infrastructure projects.
Their investigation led Deputies to a large homeless encampment in South Sacramento, where they discovered nearly $350,000 worth of stolen industrial tools and equipment, including windows, solar panels, a septic tank, and a power box. Three people were arrested near the encampment including two suspects wanted on felony no-bail warrants.
In addition to the arrests, Deputies towed five vehicles and two RVs, and also discarded over 8 tons of trash and debris, to help clean up the area as part of a coordinated effort with the East POP Team and Sheriff’s Homeless Outreach Team to restore safety and order.
The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information related to these thefts is asked to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office at (916) 874-5115, or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP. Callers can remain anonymous, and may be eligible for a cash reward through Crime Stoppers.
