Puppy Rescue – When curiosity meets a tight spot 

October 25, 2025 – CAL FIRE officials report that on the afternoon of Thursday, October 16 in Ramona (San Diego County), a three-month-old Great Pyrenees puppy named Zoe found herself in trouble after becoming trapped between two large rocks and getting stuck. Her owner tried to help, but the space was too tight to safely reach her and quickly realized the situation required technical rescue assistance. That’s when firefighters from USAR 12 Deer Springs and Engine 82 Ramona stepped in.

Arriving with technical rescue gear, the crews worked carefully and methodically. Using pneumatic air bags, ropes, and hoses, and a whole lot of heart, they created just enough space to free Zoe without shifting the rocks too far or causing injury.

The team pulled Zoe free, muddy but unharmed. After a quick check and a lot of tail wags, she is back home and happy.

Zoe was reunited with her grateful owner, tail wagging and spirits high. We’re so glad this “ruff” situation had a happy ending for everyone involved!
