Arrest Made of Vehicle Burglary and Fraudulent Use of Credit Card Suspect

October 26, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that on September 11, 2025, Camarillo Patrol Deputies Ventura County Sheriff logoresponded to a call for service in the 12000 Block Leisure Village, City of Camarillo, reference a vehicle burglary that occurred during the early morning. The victim reported that the rear passenger window of her vehicle was shattered, and her purse was stolen. The victim also reported that her bank alerted her to numerous fraudulent charges on her stolen credit cards.

A review of surveillance footage from a business where the credit cards were used fraudulently revealed that the suspect was driving a blue Ford F-150 with a distinctive window sticker on the rear window. The vehicle was registered to and driven by (S1) Matthew Merrion, who was on post-release community supervision (PRCS).

On October 21, 2025, Detectives from the Camarillo Investigation Bureau coordinated with Ventura County Probation Agency and ultimately arrested Merrion for PC 459- Vehicle Burglary and PC 484g (a)- Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.

Merrion’s cellular phone was seized, and the contents located inside Merrion’s cellphone were searched pursuant to Merrion’s probation search terms. Detectives discovered fraudulent online purchases matching the amounts the victim was alerted to by her bank. Based on the investigation, it is believed Merrion was present in the area of Leisure Village during the date and time of the crime and was involved in the fraudulent use of the victim’s credit card.

Merrion remains in custody at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in the City of Ventura, CA. awaiting arraignment. The bail amount was set at $65,000.
