Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge 

**The following information is based on a preliminary and ongoing investigation, which continues to evolve as investigators interview witnesses, review physical and electronic records, and analyze forensic evidence. The Department’s understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional evidence is collected and analyzed**

October 27, 2025 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating a Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge (NTUD) that occurred in Santa Clarita.

On October 16, 2025, around 9:35 p.m., an off-duty Police Officer assigned to the Office of Operations was in the garage of his residence when a Non-Tactical Unintentional Discharge occurred. No officers or community members were injured as a result of this incident.

Force Investigation Division (FID) personnel responded to the scene and are conducting the investigation.
