November 6, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that on June 26, 2022, unidentified male human remains were found in the Santa Clara riverbed, just south of the 3700 block of Olivas Park Drive. The remains were mummified, showing no signs of fatal trauma. The individual appeared to be male, dressed in a red “Faded Glory” brand polo shirt (size S/CH, 34-36), Levi 501 jeans (size 32W by 30L), and a light-colored tank top from Michael Adams. No personal belongings were discovered near the remains.
Following an autopsy performed by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office, the remains were forwarded to the Anthropology Department at Chico University for further examination. The analysis yielded the following physical descriptions:
- Gender: Male
- Probable Ethnicity: Likely Hispanic, or African American, but possibly Native American, or Asian
- Age Range: 45-80 years
- Height: Approximately 5’5” (± 4 inches)
- Injuries: An unhealed fracture in the right foot
- Health Conditions: Evidence of a degenerative spinal condition known as Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis (DISH), along with issues affecting the sacroiliac joint, acromioclavicular joint, and the ulnae, which likely contributed to a limp in his gait.
