High-Country Health Food and Cafe in Mariposa California

November 18, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff’s Office officials report that this past weekend, three hikers and their dog found themselves stranded in the unincorporated area of Fillmore. They were unable to hike out due to the storm and were in need of immediate assistance.

Thanks to the quick response of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and Ventura County Fire Department, Copter 5 was launched to reach them before darkness and worsening weather set in. Unfortunately, the mission faced challenges due to heavy clouds and the impassable Sespe waterflow, making it impossible for ground teams to proceed.

Despite these obstacles, Cal OES managed to communicate with the hikers, informing them that rescue would resume first thing the next morning. The Ojai Search and Rescue team was on the scene Sunday morning. They successfully located the hikers and their furry friend, bringing them to safety.

The best part? Everyone was found in good health and high spirits! A big thank you to all the brave rescuers who worked tirelessly to ensure a happy ending to this adventure.

Please don’t attempt to go on a hike during bad weather conditions.
