November 29, 2025 – Alturas Police Officers Association officials report that they would like to recognize the quick actions of Officer Garcia during a serious incident on Friday. While on patrol, Officer Garcia heard a dispatch for a Cal Fire engine rollover by Crowder Flat Road on Highway 299. Officer Garcia later learned that the engine had rolled four to five times while responding code 3 to a structure fire.

Even though the accident occurred outside of the Alturas Police Department's jurisdiction, Officer Garcia was first on scene and did not hesitate to provide aid and ensure that emergency personnel received the help they needed.

We are grateful that the crew survived this terrifying accident, and we commend Officer Garcia for his professionalism, courage, and commitment to helping others no matter where the call comes from. Well done Officer Garcia!
